Entry Requirements to Bournemouth Collegiate School (BCS)
Primary and Secondary School Entry
The primary school entry process at BCS is personalized and typically involves meeting with the admissions team. While specific entry assessments for primary levels are not detailed, prep schools usually evaluate a child’s readiness for the school environment through informal assessments or interviews. Prospective families are encouraged to visit the school and can arrange a meeting with the Headmistress, Mrs. Karen Wyborn.
For entry into Year 7, priority is given to pupils from BCS Prep, children of staff, and siblings of current students. All prospective pupils must achieve a certain level of academic performance and are invited to take admissions entrance assessments in English and Maths, accompanied by a free writing component. For entry into Year 8 to Year 10, students take the CAT4 assessment and complete a piece of free writing.
Sixth Form Entry
Prospective Sixth Form students complete the CAT4 assessment and a free writing component, in addition to having an interview with the Head of Sixth Form and providing their predicted GCSE results. BCS emphasizes a wide range of interests and abilities in its admissions process, aiming to consider all aspects of a student’s application.
General Admissions Process
Prospective families are encouraged to visit BCS to tour the facilities, meet staff and students, and understand the educational opportunities available. After completing the registration form and submitting the registration fee, along with the child’s latest school report and passport identity page, students attend a taster morning or day, followed by a welcome day upon receiving offers. For international students, additional assessments and considerations are required, including a CEPT assessment for those for whom English is a second language.
Scholarships and Bursaries
BCS offers Academic, Sports, Music, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts Scholarships to gifted entrants, alongside bursaries valued up to 100% of school fees, subject to annual review and changes in the household’s financial circumstances.
It is advisable to contact the school directly or visit their official website for the most current and detailed admission information.
